The Information and Software Industry Association (ISIA) has successfully obtained funding from the SME Development Fund to implement a project in Software Export to Japan and Korea. They are now organizing the first mission trips to Osaka and Tokyo, Japan, on 23 Jan 2005, other than visiting a number of Japan IT Associations and IT firms to find out how Hong Kong software companies can tap in the Japan software market and look for business opportunities for software products & outsourcing, they will visit the Software Outsourcing Expo held in Tokyo organized by JETRO Japan.
JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) has organized a 2004 China-Japan Software Technology Entrepreneurial Exchange Forum in Shanghai on Nov 18-19, 2004. Interested companies from Hong Kong are invited to attend or exhibit to promote software outsourcing opportunities between China and Japan, as well as to seek mutual cooperation in the software industry. Various Japanese regional administrations and incubation organizations will also attend.
BASIS (Bangladesh Association for Software and Information Services), the largest representative trade body of software and IT enabled service business in Bangladesh, is going to organize a mega exposition titled Softexpo2004 Bangladesh during November 25-30, 2004.
QAI India is organising a Two-Day Workshop on “Software Estimation” in Hong Kong on 26-27 July 2004. The objective of the workshop is to provide inputs on Functin Points and COCOMO, which are perhaps the most popular methods of sizing and estimating software systems today. Function point analysis developed by Allen Albrecht, when at IBM, is now universally accepted as an adequate and effective measure of functionality of a business, commercial, MIS software system and thus a vital first step towards generating realistic estimates.
The Japanese IT industry values about 13 trillion yen, which is the second largest market in the world after US. The Japanese enterprises are aware of the advantage of IT outsourcing and many of them outsource their business to China and India. Due to proximity to Japan and the strong technical backup by the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong IT companies are indeed perfect project managers of Japan’s appealing outsourcing business.
